Utimaco Announces Support for Intel® Anti-Theft Technology and Data Protection Solutions
Joint Solutions to provide Enterprise Customers with Increased Security against Identity Theft, Data Breaches and Computer Theft
Oberursel/ April 2, 2008 / Utimaco – The Data Security Company, today announced the next important step in its strategic collaboration with Intel. Utimaco and Intel will build a centrally manageable solution that addresses the two most essential security issues facing organizations today: preventing theft of devices and encryption of critical data such as intellectual property or customer records.
Based on the flexible and scalable architecture of SafeGuard Enterprise, customers will enjoy a seamless integration of device and data protection through the combination of Intel® Anti-Theft Technology with SafeGuard Enterprise. With the Intel® Anti-Theft Technology, customers running SafeGuard Enterprise can configure and enforce policies jointly for device and data protection.
Today SafeGuard Enterprise provides best-in-class data protection against theft or unauthorized use. With Intel’s Anti-Theft Technology, once a system is detected stolen, data access can be disabled remotely and, the PC can be disabled. Once the real owner of the device authenticates properly, access to the device and data is regained immediately. This integrated user experience guarantees central control of device security at lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the enterprise.
“Intel and Utimaco continue to deliver on the joint vision to prevent our clients from any damages through information loss. With the innovative Intel® Anti-Theft Technology we go one step further and make notebook theft completely unattractive. The seamless integration between data and device protection in SafeGuard Enterprise is key to achieving this cost-effectively for enterprises,” stated Malte Pollmann, Executive Vice President Products at Utimaco. “We are very proud to be selected as a key data security provider in this strategic security initiative.”
Data security crimes cost billions to global enterprises each year. Of the myriad threats, organizations need security solutions to protect against the three most significant crimes: identity theft, data breaches and computer theft. To address these security risks, Intel, in collaboration with industry leaders such as Utimaco, has designed a set of security capabilities to enhance existing solutions particularly in the areas of theft management and data protection. This new suite of features, providing proactive and reactive theft defense, will be available later this year.
“Customers want security capabilities that will protect their data and deter notebook theft,” said George Thangadurai, Intel Director of Strategic Planning and Initiatives, Mobile Platforms Group. “This collaboration with Utimaco will allow us to enhance their security solution to better protect confidential data in the PC when a theft or breach has been identified.”
