Utimaco’s SafeGuard PrivateDisk combined with SafeGuard Enterprise offers sophisticated Key Management

Newest Version 2.30 makes separate authentication obsolete and offers expanded Vista and XP Support

Oberursel, Germany, October 14, 2008 / Utimaco – The Data Security Company, today unveiled its new SafeGuard PrivateDisk 2.30, the latest version of its easy-to-use and powerful tool for the encryption of data in virtual volumes. This newest version offers increased integration with the company’s flagship solution, SafeGuard Enterprise, for improved key management. The new support for 64-bit platforms meets the needs of today’s IT environments to support clients with more than four GB of RAM.

Given today’s increasingly mobile workforce, SafeGuard PrivateDisk assures organizations can protect sensitive information stored on USB sticks, notebooks, smartphones and other mobile devices that are often taken outside of office walls. SafeGuard PrivateDisk acts as an electronic
safe that allows users to protect data and access encrypted data in external environments.

Automated Key Management with SafeGuard Enterprise.
SafeGuard PrivateDisk 2.30 integrates with SafeGuard Enterprise and allows users to take advantage of enterprise key management to create and open PrivateDisk virtual volumes. If both SafeGuard Enterprise and SafeGuard PrivateDisk are installed, no separate authentication
is necessary. The SafeGuard Enterprise keyring may be utilized so that all users in a particular group can automatically get access to the virtual volume without the need to enter a passphrase.

Expanded Vista and XP Support
SafeGuard PrivateDisk 2.30 now runs on 64-bit platforms for Windows Vista and XP, in addition to the already existing 32-bit support and in addition provides easy exchange of encrypted data between PC and PDA platforms via memory card or file transfer.

SafeGuard PrivateDisk 2.30, including PrivateDisk Portable, is available in two editions. The Personal Edition is designed for use in small and medium-sized companies. The Enterprise Edition is designed to meet the need of larger organizations and includes extended configuration options, built in integration with Microsoft Management Console (MMC) and w PKI certificate and smartcard support.

SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3 is comprised of the existing SafeGuard Management Center module the SafeGuard Device Encryption, the Data Exchange as well as Partner Connect and SafeGuard Configuration Protection module. Further modules rounding off Utimaco's data security suite are to be added in later product versions: SafeGuard File & Folder Encryption secures user data that is exchanged between working groups. In addition, it can be used to encrypt both local disk drives and network servers at file and directory level, and to assign them individual access rights.
